Our Development History
Hongjitang Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. was founded in 1907 and has won honors such as the Excellent Gold Medal Award at the 1915 Panama International Exposition, China Time honored Brand, First Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, National Intangible Cultural Heritage, 4A level Tourist Attraction, and National Enterprise Technology Center. It is listed among the top 50 pharmaceutical industries in China.

Our history
In 1907
In 1907, Yue Jingyu established Hongjitang, which took the meaning of “spread benevolence; benefit mankind.”, in Jinan Yuan Qian street.
In 1909
In 1909, Yue Jingyu invested heavily in the establishment of the Hongjitang Ejiao Workshop and invented Nine times purification and extraction, which was a great improvement in the manufacturing technology of Ejiao. Later, Hongjiotang developed 12 Ejiao products which were named “Blessing”, “Emolument”, “Longevity”, “Fortune”, and “Happiness” as well as “Jingyan”, “Moding” etc. Due to its premium quality and unique quality, Hongjitang Ejiao was selected as a tribute to the royal family.
In 1914
Since 1914, Hongjitang Ejiao has successively won the "Best Gold Medal" of the Shandong Provincial Product Expo and the "Outstanding Certificate of Award" issued by the Ministry of Railway Industry.
In 1915
In 1915, Hongjitang Ejiao went to the United States on behalf of China to participate in the Panama World Exposition and won the gold Medal and the first-class silver Award.
In 1933
In 1933, Hongjitang owned three stores and two factories during the great developing period, and its headquarters was located on the pier of Hongjitang. The inventory of precious drugs was increasing day by day, and the mode of integrating industry and commerce with the former store and then the latter factory was gradually mature.
In 1951
In 1951, the new drug pharmacy was set up in the Hongjitang warehouse and was named “Hongjitang Pharmaceutical Factory.”
In 1956
In 1956, Hongjitang completed its restructuring as a joint state-private enterprise. During that period, Hongjitang ranked first in terms of capital in the TCM industry. Three drug stores that originally belonged to Hongjitang were transferred to Jinan Medicinal Materials Company later and therefore factories and shops were separated. Hongjitang Ejiao Factory and Tianyitang Factory were merged into "Jinan Ejiao Factory".
In 1968
In 1968, under the organization of the government, Hongji Pharmaceutical Factory transferred its production of donkey hide gelatine to Dong'e County Hepingyin County Medicinal Materials Company.
In 1993
In 1993, Jinan Chinese Medical Factory’s synthetic muscone has passed the evaluation of a national first-class new drug after 15 years researching history.
In 1995
In 1995, Hongjitang was awarded as “China Time-honored Brand” by the Ministry of Domestic Trade.
In 2009
In 2009, Hongjitang Chinese Medical Culture was listed as a “Shandong Provincial Intangible Culture Heritage”.
In 2015
In 2015, at the Milan World Expo in Italy, Hongjitang was awarded the title of "Shandong World Expo, Centennial Brand".
In 2015
In 2015, The program “Synthetic Muscone and its industrialization” got“the First-class National Scientific and Technological Progress”.
In 2017
In 2017, Hongjitang was ranked among the top 500 in Asia, with a brand value of 16.011 billion yuan.
In 2018
In 2018, Hongjitang Traditional Chinese Medicine Cultural Tourism Scenic Area was awarded the national AAA level scenic spot.
In 2019
In 2019, the "Hongjitang" brand was awarded the title of one of China's top 100 pharmaceutical brands.
In 2020
In 2020, Hongjitang was listed as a pilot construction unit for national forest health and wellness bases.
In 2021
In 2021, Hongjitang Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture was included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
In 2022
In 2022, Hongjitang Traditional Chinese Medicine Cultural Tourism Scenic Area was awarded the national AAA level scenic spot.
In 2023
Hongjitang Pharmaceutical Enterprise Technology Center was approved as the national enterprise technology center
